Across the country, librarians are stepping up to serve families who choose to educate their children themselves. Libraries have an important role in advancing education in whatever format. Many libraries offer events for homeschool families and offer programs and services that cater to home educators. 

The world tells us that school is the only place children can learn socialization skills and that homeschoolers are sheltering their children. But neither of those are correct. Avoidance of the public school system is not avoidance of society, and homeschooled children capitalize on all the opportunities available to them.

Homeschooling your gifted child gives you the ability to discover what interests him or her and meet those interests in the best way possible. You can incorporate alternative learning strategies, movement, field trips and other real-life learning, and diverse social groups to meet the needs of your homeschooled gifted child.
